Good value/performance m.2 SSD

Hi,

I want good value/performance 512GB (or 1TB) SSD for my laptop.

For now my list for decision including:

Transcend MTE220S (1TB)

Kingston A2000 (512GB/1TB)

Kingston KC2000 (512GB/1TB)

ADATA XPG SX6000 Pro (1TB)

Any tips or recommendations which one choose? Or some other in same price category?

EDIT: Please mods move this to https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/38-storage-devices I accidentally selected wrong topic

Not a lot of info on the MTE220S, but either of the Kingston drives will do. The A2000 is very good for a normally quite cheap NVMe drive, and the KC2000 uses the same controller as the ADATA SX8200 Pro and HP EX950 which are very good.

Avoid the SX6000 though, as it's DRAMless.

XPG SX8200 Pro, great price/performance.

 on the other hand...

The SX6000 sucks, I really don't recommend it at all. Don't know anything about the others you listed.

Yeah if you plan on using it as an OS drive, avoid QLC and avoid DRAMless drives.

Yea but SX8200 is little pricier... Is it worth it?

Yes I am planning it as OS drive. How to check if drives have DRAM?

It competes with the SAMSUNG 970 EVO and even beats it in some tests while being a lot cheaper. It's up to you. I personaly have two of the 1TB ones and I couln't be happier with them.

Look up the controller they're using or, even easier:

Basically, if the KC2000 fits your budget, go for that. Otherwise, get the A2000.
