I've been using Windows all my life but now I want to try a Linux dual-boot for fun. I'm using a browser 95 percent of the time. I'd like recommendations for a distro that has a clean interface and isn't too heavy. I don't mind if the install process is very hard or involves command line if there are guides. Also is there any video or blog that explains how Linux works and the language used (repositories, distros, kernel, etc.)? I'm also contemplating just trying many different distros because I'm doing it just to learn about Linux.

I've seen LTT videos use PopOS and I think it's based on Ubuntu. Should I try that or just stick with Ubuntu?

Go for Pop OS, it's so much fun to use. Ubuntu will have more resources and better support community.

I'd suggest Linux Mint which is Ubuntu based but somehow is more similar to Windows.

I've been trying a few distros but always end up with Mint.

Both are excellent starting options, for a beginner, I usually recommend anything based on Ubuntu

I guess I'm gonna give every popular distro a try. I'll start with Ubuntu then Pop!OS then Linux Mint. Thanks for the recommendations.

I've used mint as my daily and I'm not sure I'd recommend it. I ended up encountering swaths of randomly buggy and broken things, had to fiddle around for ages with the kernel and the Nvidia driver versions to make it even work and ALSA took a big fat dump somewhere and I ended up jumping over to Manjaro which has been the easiest distro I've used so far I think. :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
