Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Battlefield V, The Crew2, RDR2, Emulators, Coding

Ok i have a problem i already have a decent gaming rig but it is starting to show its weaknesses, I am currently running a r7 1700x, a GTX 1060 6GB and 32GB 3000mhz Ballistix Sport LT, my PC has some issues with playing BFV at a high enough frame rate (60fps@1080p) at Medium-High settings. I have decided to upgrade at least my GPU when RTX3000 is out but i have my concerns that the rest of my PC will then struggle a little bit especially with the new screen i plan to get (3440x1440@144hz). So my question is whether to upgrade all of my PC or just the GPU and keep the 1700X and if i should upgrade everything what should i upgrade to?

I'd see what CPUs are available for your motherboard. Jumping to a 3600 might be a smart upgrade, or if you need the extra cores the 3700x.

Im surprised you arent getting 60fps@1080p with that hardware. Have you updated to all the latest drivers?

You would definitely have  a CPU bottleneck if you get a very high end card. An overclock to the 1700X and if you only play at 1440p at high settings, may mean its not that bad.

If you want really high refresh rates at lower settings, I would suggest throwing in a 3600 or 3700X, which should be supported by your motherboard already, and will perform much better in games

I have everything up to date but my gpu is 100% pinned in BFV. If i upgrade i would most likely go X299 due to it just beeing a better plattform in my opinion and i9 X-Series comparable Ryzen CPUs (3950X,3900X) beeing more expensive than Intel X-Series in my region.

Well, nowadays games demands GPU more, so IMO upgrading GPU is a yes (upgrade to 2000 series or 3000 maybe if you have time and budget). For CPU, maybe you could upgrade to r5 3600 at least. Also just for reminder, ryzen 3k series can reach its peak performance with 3200Mhz CL14 or 3600Mhz CL16 ram, so your choice is to just save it, OC or buy the new one (the difference might be just +10 FPS or more, from my experience and seeing gaming performance in youtube). Can i know your Mobo btw?
