Windows 10 has signed me in under emails and accounts?

MajorFoley

So i use a local account for my machine on windows 10. Apparently i noticed today after resetting my PC and looking at the start menu i noticed a medal icon with microsoft points. Puzzled i went to settings and apparently under email & accounts under accounts used by other apps my hotmail is there. What is this because i dont recall doing anything that would allow this? And if i click remove im worried its actually going to delete my hotmail account.

Just logging in to Windows store, mail/calendar apps etc will make it appear there. As it says it's an account that's registered for use by some apps.

Sure, but what's wrong with it being there?

It honestly just surprises me, not exactly the greatest fan of 10 but if it isnt even needed there in the first place why should i keep it? Granted it might come back at some point but still. And if i try to click remove it gives me just a very worrying message "are you sure you want to remove this account? This will remove email and all content associated with it.Your organisation might also remove some data stored on this device."

Just means that if you have that account used for things like the Windows Mail app it will remove the account from there, and if that's a student/uni account that gives you access to licensed programs and such those would be deactivated on this machine.

I.e. that whatever you had access to on that machine thanks to the account being associated won't be accessible anymore on it.

Alright if your sure but can someone else quote on this? Because that email just happens to be my main one so its not something I'd like to take risks for but since you also explained what it does it also might just be easier to keep it there. Thanks for the prompt replies though! @Kilrah
