Razer blade for college?

Hi all,

So I'm planning on going to college in the fall and I'm thinking of getting a windows computer. I have a gaming desktop right now but obviously I cant bring it with me. I want a computer that has pretty good internals sense I'm going to be majoring in Computer Engineering/ Computer Science. I don't do that much heavy gaming, some valorant here and there but mainly Cities Skylines which is CPU heavy. I was thinking about getting a Razer blade sense their not too flashy and have good internals and a good screen. If anybody got recommendations feel free to suggest

Budgets really the deciding factor. Without knowing that, the Asus Zephyrus G14 is the perfect college laptop IMO. Very portable 14inch design with good gaming specs and massive CPU power, and at a decent price. As you seem to want CPU power,  the 4900HS in the G14 will crush any of razer's lineup. The only area you lose out on is GPU, with a 2060 maxq being the top tier

Phanteks P300 (Would Recommend)

Kingston A400 240GB SSD

Seagate BarraCuda 1TB HDD

The g14 is a good option but this msi laptop has a better gpu for only $50 more (but a little bit worse proccesor for your main applications) and the 15.6 inch version has a 2060 like the g14 but for a decent bit less

note the g14 has better battery life

Didn't every single blade that linus gave away to his employees break or have issues too?

I think so lol. I just want a laptop that doesn't scream 'I'm a gaming computer'. Nothing too big or bulky either.

A good chunk of them, yes. I mean that was a few years ago and quality can improve, but still. That's unacceptable.

My friend recently had issues with his Razer phone as well..for the second time.

The company just isn't that great overall.

Oh yeah my roommates blade 2019 gave up in may after 8 months of use. Not a scratch on it and super well cared for but just started having gpu issues.

Actually bought a Razer Keyboard so I can see how they are myself rather than just ragging on them without trying them. Literally waiting for it to blow up or something.

Had that razer mmo mouse after 4 replacements I just go my money back from the store :p. Sucks tho really liked that mouse. Ended up using the dell mouse I got from the trash for another 6 years before getting a g502.

Keyboard seems pretty solid up to now, built well, has nice sized cables and the switches feel good. Plus the magnetic wrist rest is pretty great.

I have the Blade 15 and I find it to be a fairly compact and capable machine. I'm not sure how the 10th gen six core does in CPU intensive tasks, but overall it's been a champ. I like it's display, the build quality is really top notch, and the 'gamer' aesthetic is toned down (minus the Razer logo on back of course but that can be turned off). I understand most of the comments here are ragging on Razer, but as an anecdote I've owned several Razer products for around seven years and haven't had a single issue with any of them. I've had a Razer mouse since 2013 and it still works fine. The laptop is quite new, just a few weeks old, but honestly they haven't let me down yet so who knows.

The older stuff is decent it's more around the time they switched to their own stuff rather than Cherry for keyboard switches for example.
