Hi!

I’m a relatively amateur PC builder and here’s my dilemma:

I just finished ordering all my parts for a new rig that I’m upgrading to, but after watching a lot of YouTube guides for building a PC, I’m admittedly getting pretty nervous that the PSU I ordered won’t be enough to power the whole system.

Here’s the spec list.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 2600
  • GPU: MSI GTX 1660 VENTUS XS OC
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8Gb DDR4-3200
  • Mobo: ASRock B450-HDV
  • SSD: Crucial BX500 1Tb
  • PSU: Corsair CX450

Is that PSU enough? I’ve been watching other YouTubers buy 550+watts PSUs w/ similar spec computers and it’s making me think I made the wrong choice.

I’m super psyched to build this pc when everything comes in, but I can’t shake this feeling of unease. Maybe you guys can help put my mind at rest? I don’t plan on overclocking at all, btw!

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Be fine, The reason most will go 550w or maybe higher is for feature upgrades.

CPU - I9 10900 | CPU Cooler - Corsair Hydro Series H100x AIO | Motherboard -  Aorus B460 PRO AC | RAM -G.SKILL Ripjaw V series 4x8GB 2666MHZ | Graphics Card - Gigabyte RTX 3070  | Power Supply - Cooler Master 650w  | Storage -  Working on a new Spicy

Operating System - Windows 10 Pro

With a ryzen 2600 + gtx1660 you're probably only looking at around 200-250w under load. It'll be fine.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

It will be enough, I would have gone with a 550, but if you already have the 450 it will work.

If you have not opened it, I would return it if possible for a 550 simply so you have headroom in the future for a better GPU potentially.

Just for reference, the PC in my sig in game load pulls about 480 watts. And a RTX 2080 and 9900k both overclocked will pull ~200+ watts more than your PC will.
