3700x Ryzen build

akabrad1

Budget (including currency): 1400

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  Used primariliy for work, 2-3 monitor many browser tabs with some applications . Would also like to be able to do basic gaming in the future (  have very basic monitors currently old Asus 1080 i think 76 hz 5ms, and likey will not upgrade for a while.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Dialing in my build before purchase , have not built or had a pc in a very long time, currently using a macbook pro to power 2 monitors and its just screaming and hot all day lol.

Hi All, building a new computer ( has been many years for me) any advice/suggestions appreciated.  Ive made many changes along the way just trying to dial it in before purchase.

Using mostly for work ( lots of web browser tabs 2-3 monitors ) but would like to be able to do some light gaming down the road. Has been tough to narrow down with lots of items out of stock, but i do have access to everything listed, for around this pricing ( currently around 30-40 less)

Ryzen 7 3700x
Asus TUF GAMING x570 WiFi
G.Skill Trident z Neo 2x16 3600 CL16
Crucial P1 1TB NVME M.2
Seagate 2TB 7200 HD
EVGA RTX 2060 KO ULTRA
Fractal Meshify C ( light tint)

Having trouble selecting a PSU ( because of availability of course, but also I get compatibility notes in PC part picker about the mobo having an additional 4-pin ATX connector bit the power supply does not. Will this be an issue? Any easy way to determine which PSUs would have that ?
Build sits right around $1200 total without the PSU ( figure another $100-150 if/when I find one)

Thanks all!

A 500W unit will get the job done; Yes, later AM4 'boards have a 2nd EPS port that's really only needed for exotic cooling (LN2, etc), but it's optional.

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

Thanks, sounds like this will likely never be an issue for me then.  Makes finding a suitable PSU easier, appreciate it.

Get a Corsair RMx 550W or BitFenix Formula or Whisper 600W

Ok, maybe something like this.

Depending on how many applications you will have open and tabs at once you may only need 16gb ram.

edit: If for what you are doing with work, do not need as much cpu power as a 3700x then I would definitelly go with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a rx5700 xt

would make a few suggestions

rmx PSUs are great though they are hard to find in stock, if you can find one with a reasonable price then go with it.

Avoid the EVGA Jo models. The coolers are shit and the cards have thermal issues.

Also, Seagate Barracuda drives are notoriously unreliable and prone to failure. Avoid them

Unfortunately the only PSU i seem to find available around that wattage is the ROG-STRIX-550G Asus unit ( fully modular , 80+ gold) for $129,

I could also get a higher wattage corsair RM750X for $160 though

the strix isnt as good as rmx but it is still decent but overpriced. what about rmx 650? Rmi 650w?

but for 30 dollars more i wouldnt get the 750w even if the rmx is a bit better than the strix. I would get the strix.

Thanks, this is a tough part of the build for me as i really dont game on PC now, but want to be capable should that change in the future.  Recommend anything else in that price range?  Its hard to justify spending much more than 300 on the GPU, but i do want to be future proof  to an extent, and definitely dont want something with issues.

thinking of "downgrading" to the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Super SC Ultra, save like 80 dollars and seems like a capable graphics card for my potential uses
