Anti-aliasing is designed to sharpen the image or better define the outline of objects, not intentionally blur it.

If you have a very pixelated image it may seem a bit "softened" or blurry could be another word for it.

This may help you understand how its works a bit better:

It also depends on the specific anti-aliasing technique used. In the case of the last few Call of Duty titles released, from my experience the AA options were horrible, hence the blurriness OP mentioned, especially if you play at a lower than 1440p resolution.

Make sure your render scale is set to native (so 100%) and try applying a sharpening filter, since both AMD and Nvidia include this feature with their latest drivers.

Another method would be increasing the render scale over 100%, therefore rendering the game at a higher resolution (basically supersampling). Keep in mind that that'll also be more demanding than most if not all AA methods out there.

The purpose of anti-aliasing is to soften hard edges. Your display is made up of (more or less) rectangular pixels. Using that to display stuff that is organic and/or round in nature is difficult. Same with a line that isn't at a right angle to the pixel grid. With anti-aliasing an angled line can appear sharper by using intermediate colors to lessen the impact of rectangular pixels.

Obviously at a lower resolution this can result in some "softness" or "bluriness" but e.g. if you look at it from further away or at a higher resolution, the line on the right looks like a line while the one on the left has this kind of staircase effect that looks very unnatural.

Not having anti-aliasing was one of the reasons PS3 / XBOX360 games always looked so bad compared to PC at the time. The post from @Eigenvektor pretty much says it all.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
