Bose 301's II vs current day desktop speakers (audio engine?)

JackieTran

So I'm currently using my dads old Bose's. How do they compare to current day desktop speakers?

I like the look of the audio engine a2+'s but i've been wondering, instead of using a separate DAC, could I cheap the system and plug some cans into the a2 output and make use of its internal amp/DAC?

Plugging headphones into a2's sounds like a sure-fire way to destroy them.

Looks like there was a flaw to my genius plan :(

What exactly wouldn't work?

Then you can get an rca to 3.5mm adapter.

BTW, I emailed their customer support and they said you can. How trustworthy are the support there?

Unless their support says otherwise, the line out will just be a line level. Even if it drives your headphones, there'd be no volume control.
