i have an old computer that i want to upgrade and give it away. the specs are:

gt 610 2gb

3gb ram

2core E2220

and i want to upgrade it to a gt 1030. i have overclocked it's CPU,RAM and the GPU. YES or NO and WHY?

i have asked many other people and everyone says that the gt 1030 is too fast for this CPU but i dont care if it is a bottleneck.i just want 60 FPS on CS GO (now i have 30-60).

Don't waste your money on this system.

Put that money towards a ryzen APU/motherboard/ram

Why a 1030 ?

It's bad value

Get a 750ti used for the same price and that will be a whole lot better value

If you want, but the 1030 cards are waste of money. Make sure to quote when you respond

No GPU upgrade's going to get you 60FPS in CS:GO with that system. It's not the graphics that are holding you back, it's the ancient dual-core.

3 GB ram on CS GO That he want to play are good

Would be good if your cpu could keep up, but it won't be able to.

ok so a gt 1030 and some more ram will be the final choice?

No one said that.

No one said anything about a ram upgrade, and no one said you should absolutely go out and get a 1030.

GT 1030 because it is using 30w

GTX 750 ti 60w (it m8 not be enough for overclock too)

You wouldn't be overclockig anyway. Theres no point being that your CPU can't keep up as is

Here's a video of someone playing CS:GO with an E8400 (also a dual-core but on a slightly more modern (but still really old) process and higher clocks compared to your Pentium), 4GB of RAM and a GTX 950 (which is a good bit faster than both a 750Ti and a 1030). To save you the hassle of watching the video, he's getting around 50FPS at minimum settings and an eyesore resolution.

There's no point in spending money in a graphics card or anything else for that matter for that system, as mentioned previously.

Your best bet is doing what @Slottr suggested a while ago, which is moving to a new platform altogether. Grab a Ryzen APU, a cheap B450 board (or heck even an A320) and a half-decent 2x4GB kit of memory. And an SSD preferably. It might be a little more expensive than buying a GT 1030 or GTX 750Ti and throwing that in your current rig, but the difference would be night and day.
