I should probably wait then right lmao. I was thinking of getting the 10900k because it was clearly a slightly better gaming CPU. But if the 3900xt will be better than it's current version I might just go for AMD since it also supports m.2 4th gen

On paper it's just smaller core count Ryzen getting boost potential of the 3950X, which is very small and will not compensate for any disadvantages over Intel.

Yeah probably... but I kinda am upset about 10900k not supporting gen 4 m.2s lmao. I mean yeah I save a bit staying with gen 3 m.2s but like i wanted the performance :x

Unless your doing something that actually needs NVMe on a gen 4 link... there will not be any noticeable difference. Hell, even doing photo work I don't even see a difference going from my NVMe drive to standard SATA III. Im not saying there isn't one, but its not enough to notice for my workload.

 

That said, a 10900k WILL get you more FPS. A faster m.2 drive 100% will not (at least until game devs start rolling what they have learned to us PCMR folks from PS5, but that also will assume all PC's have SSD's, and nvme ones.... which will be many, many years away).

More important than this though, what GPU do you have, and what resolution do you play at. And do you have Gsync or Freesync?

I don't fully understand your monitor choices, if you really want 1080p gaming (I personally could never go back to "low resolution"), go higher than 165. You will be above 165 basically all the time... Go at least 240. And then why have a 4k monitor as well? Why not just get an HDR ultrawide..?

 

Anyways, yea, if your after high FPS, which it seems you are, Intel 100%. Also though, with nvidia 3000 being possibly soon, might be worth waiting a few months for that.

This, but also OP, it just doesn't matter lol. You would need to be doing some serious data science or video workloads for this to make any bit of difference.

the 10600k and 10700k with max oc is what i'd be looking at, the 2 extra cores on the 10900k is just alot of extra heat. i'd be waiting for zen 3.
