Thats normal, when you encode to a normal bitrate the result will be 1920x1080 and the bottom 8 rows will be ignored.

Thanks, the resolution gave me a heart attack.

I have the Canon EOS Rebel T5i and I set the resolution of recordings to 1920X1080 at 30fps. However, the recordings show up as 1920X1088 at 30fps. I need to record something right now and cropping the video will kill my weak laptop.

Edit: to clarify, the Canon records in 16x16 pixel blocks. hence the 1088 (120 by 68)

From what I remember, it records at 1920x1088 for the same reason the actual resolution of standard definition content in NTSC is 720x486. Your only real choice is to crop it, either in your video editor of choice or by re-encoding the video in Handbrake with a crop.

Thanks for helping me with everything!
