I am doing research on a laptop for my girlfriend who is starting college and I came upon this laptop for well under $1000, It seemed too good to be true even the top spec model with 1tb SSD and 32GB of ram being under $1000. Idk if I just haven't been keeping up with tech as well as I usually do or if there is some major compromises in its design which I have been unable to find. if anyone has any more information on this product or relevant products in a similar price range. PLEASE HELP!

Sounds quite good.
Doesn't that thing have a Digitizer and supports a Pen?

If yes, you can go for it. However: 15" with 2kg weight. Might be a bit too much for carrying every day.

But yea. HP Envy series isn't the highest quality you can get. HP ProBook or Elitebook are possible at that pricerange, also Lenovo Thinkpad. If it's a good quality second hand last gen, even a T-series model.

They will be higher quality. But they will not be a convertible, won't support Touchscreen, and also not a Digitizer.

Also, this Laptop has "only" 250 Nits brightness (which keeps the cost down), and probably way below 100% sRGB (which is only relevant for any kind of Graphic work).

If these special features are for you, then go for it.

Keep in Mind: You can probably upgrade SSD and Ram by yourself. But 60 Dollar more for 16gb extra Ram seem realistic. That's around what you would pay for a self-upgrade too.

54 Dollar for an extra 512gb also seem very realistic, and around what you would pay. A 1TB SSD is around 40-50 Dollar more than a 512gb SSD.

If you need more than 512, go for 1TB (that way, you don't have to sell the old 512gb SSD when you upgrade it yourself).
Ram: For school/university, 16gb Ram are perfectly fine.
However, you don't have any disadvantages by investing into 32gb, since it doesn't cost that much more.
