There is something loose in my power supply!

Help! I have a 450W 80+ power supply, and I was taking it out of a case and I heard something rattling around in it, I don't know if it is a screw or a cap, or something else. I know that it was working while this thing was rattling around so I don't think it was a vital part of the supply. I don't really want to open it up, any suggestions?

what material does it sound like youre moving around if you gently roll it? (while grounded maybe, because i wonder if shipping or something banged an angry capacitor or wire loose)

It sounds like metal or a heavy plastic

@TofuHaroto I already tried to see wear it is, I think it is next to the fan so it would be hard to get it out just by moving it around.

  • 2 weeks later...

could be something hitting the fan that broke off or something or a fan bearing went bad and flew somewhere
