Hello, I am new on this forum and so I thought, "why not ask about the problem I am having"

About 3-ish days ago, my OS crashed, I have tried several things to bring it back, but I believe I enhanced the problem when I tried installing a new OS over the "broken 1" (the OS in questions are Windows 10).

Though you're attention may now be on the fact I put a new OS over the other 1...That is not the source of my problem.

So let me give you a quick summary:

My PC suddenly froze all of a sudden, I restarted it and got the thing on the picture, after a few restarts I got the windows troubleshooting, tried almost every option "available", gave up, tried installing a new Windows 10 OS over the other 1, didn't work as the password I entered doesn't allow me to log back in.

Tried installing an OS on a USB, namelly SLAX. Thought I did it right, but it didnt boot. 3x checked BIOS for booting order, the USB was first in line, didn't boot...

And the screen had the green lines as seen on the picture the entire time.

My guess is that the graphics died. At this momment I just want to extract the data on my HDD/SDD.

The PC has served me well for over 6 years, so I want to "bury" it properly. 😅

Joke aside I am thinking of buying a new graphics card once I extract the data.

Help/Advice is much appreciated. 🤗

This doesn't make any sense because when you reinstall an OS it becomes brand new, with no password or any information.

It sounds like you didn't clean install properly.

You need to delete all the partitions during the install.

Follow the steps and do it again.

Yea GPU is broken from the picture, or could be loose/damaged cable?

To boot to linux live cd disable secure boot and enable legacy bios/csm?

My guess is that the GPU is indeed broken. Especially because it's just BIOS and nothing else.

@Eniac9000 what are the specs of the system? Maybe there is a iGPU that can be used for now.

Reinstalling Windows over an existing install is a terrible thing to do, you just end up with a mess. Use the reset feature if you want to do that.

But in your case your issue is failing hardware so there's no point messing with software.
