Which: 1080 double fan vs 1080ti blower style?

Sin Stalker

So my GPU just died. To get the most bang for my buck I want to go used previous gen. In the same price bracket I can go 1080ti with a blower style fan or a 1080 double fan (might be able to find a triple fan config).

I know the blower style is only preferred if it is in a small case. My case is large and has lots of air flow. So is it worth the blower style to get the extra power of the ti ??

Performance wise the 1080ti will Destroy the 1080, but since its a blower fan and its probably used, its gonna be quite loud. What is the price bracket you are in?

I am right at $400.

i would say maybe look at 2070 cards but they are around 430ish+ atm. I wouldnt buy a 1080ti blower card for 400$ also 1080s should be around 200$ish

Havent seen any 1080s at $200. 1070s yes, but not 1080s. I see the zotac mini and blower style 1080s for around 300 to 340.

My honest opinion

I would take the blower cooler

I don't care about noise and temps with these reference cooler are not that bad

But I would take the better raw Power and I wouldn't care about the open air Design cooler

And not all open air coolers are good it could be a crappy one

1080ti. Wouldnt be smart to get a weaker card if those are the options.
See more and more for $400. Though plenty of 1080’s around for 300. But I wouldn’t spend even 100 on some Msi or gigabyte version. I could never be that desperate.

Ok so for the same price you can get 5700xts new , now 1080ti is a good card. with a blower its faster then a 1080. if you get it for less then a 5700xt go for it. If not just tget the 5700xt, has better value with warraty.

Gonna be a point to use that with the card?

Yes. There's no amount of overclocking you can perform to the GTX 1080 on the dual fan cooler to surpass the GTX 1080 Ti.

A GTX 1080 Ti is some 30% or so faster than a GTX 1080.

I was in a similar situation a couple of weeks ago. Do I buy an after-market RTX 2080 Super, with all the bells and whistles for about £720, or do I buy a RTX 2080 Ti pulled from a pre-built for £799. I think the answer is fairly obvious here.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. The True Path of the Feathered One. ~ Dimboble-dubabob III
