Windows AntiVirus No Where To Be Found

Swiizy

Hey,

So I've been having this issue lately where Windows "Virus and Threat Protection" isn't found anywhere in my pc. I tried going into regedit and policy plus to unhide it and still had no luck. If anyone could help that would be amazing.

It would usually show up right here somewhere. But now I don't know. I don't think it was after any update I think It may have been from downloading something?? I'm not too sure.

Hey there. Are you logged in with a school or company's Microsoft account? If so, your organization might have disabled access to that feature.

Try searching for "Virus & Threat Protection" in the Windows search bar. Are you able to access it from there, or do you get a "Page not available" message?

I am signed in with my personal account and when I attempt to search it nothing comes up anywhere. I tried to unhide it in policyplus and regedit and it worked for about a day then when I got back on in the morning it was gone.

Hm. I haven't played around with PolicyPlus. Try this?

  • Search for "gpedit.msc" in the Windows search bar.
  • From the left panel, navigate through "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "All Settings".
  • Scroll down until you find "Hide the Virus and Threat Protection Area".
    • If the state is Enabled, set it to Not Configured or Disabled.
    • If the state is Not Configured, set it to Disabled.

If that doesn't work, I've no idea. 🤷‍♂️

Odd... How about "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Defender Security Center" > "Virus and Threat Protection"?

Attempt #3: "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Components" > "Windows Security" > "Virus and Threat Protection"?

I've no more ideas, I'm afraid. 😅

Windows Security doesn't show up either. I think it could be some sort of malware?
