Any thoughts on what I can do about this?

1) You could realize that almost no manufacturer sells such components to the general public.

2) Just replace the connector with something else and then proceed to replace the connector on the power-supply with a compatible one.

I suppose you're right. I'll look into seeing how I can replace the connector.

I guess I'm just tilted by the way the support agent handled it. Like I waited 30 mins and got hung up on ya feel?

Thanks for the input though bro.

Yeah, I know what you mean. As sad as it is, that's very typical in my experience.

If that's what he means, then that would be called a socket, not a connector.

A connector is on the end of a cable.

The socket is what the cable plugs into.

Also, opening up the device to desolder the connector and replace it would already void the warranty, so why would a company be concerned about a custom component being available if the unit is not designed to be user-servicable in the first place??

That's like me companing about a PCB on my seasonic power supply not being available for purchase alone.

Like yeah of course it's not, it's a custom made component for the device, not a generic resistor or capacitor.

The device is not meant to be opened up by a user anyway.

If the socket is damaged then he can buy a dead shield from ebay for under $100 and pull the socket out of it for a transplant, or buy a new shield, or just replace the connector with a different one available from mouser or digikey and just rewire the power plug.

Why are you whining to me about it? I just said that almost no company provides such components to the general public.

Only the first three sentences were really of your concern, the rest is for the OP.

Well actually the whole post is more for the OP, referencing your comment for context about the socket.

I don't blame the guy. You asked him if they sell a part, he told you they don't. Then you made it clear you were going to get hostile and argue anyway for no apparent reason, so he disconnected.

What else do you possibly want from the support person?
