Is this build a good idea?

I'm going all out on a pc build designed for overclocking, here's a list of some parts:

  • Intel 4770k (koolance water cooled)
  • 2x EVGA GTX 780ti (koolance water cooled)
  • ASUS Maximus VI Formula (part of the cooling loop)
  • Cooler Master AX12V 1000w Power Supply
  • Corsair 750D Case
  • Corsair Dominator (Thanks Beebskadoo)
  • A tri rad on the top and a single rad on each side.
  • XSPC Photon (Thanks jlangford.9!)
  • 500gb 840 evo
  • 4, 3tb wd red's in raid 10
  • asus xonar dx
  • some random asus ac wifi adapter just incase
  • benq xl2420te (Considering ASUS PB278Q 27-Inch 1440p)

Give me your thoughts on what can be improved on, I'm open to suggestion.

You don't need the xonar card.

Ram? Corsair Dominators

you're missing a pump...I recommend the Swiftech MCP655-b http://www.frozencpu.com/products/2128/ex-pmp-27/Swiftech_MCP655-B_12v_Water_Pump_w_38_Conversion_Kit_317_GPH.html?tl=g30c107&id=AV6wgAEx

This is overkill for 1080P. Get to 1440P at least.

Also consider color scheme.

it's 144hz

it's fine

For a res/pump, use the XSPC Photon. I think you can change the leds for different colors, is has light bar in the middle

PSU should be around 800 watts.
780ti shines at 1440p, but 1080p is perfectly fine for the monitor you're choosing

Can you suggest a good 1440p monitor, like 24-30 inches?

To be fair I don't think that you would need to OC the rig spec you are going for is pretty solid

Alright mining on nvidia cards isn't a great idea, go for a R9 290 or 290x if you are wanting to mine.

You're not going to find a 1440p monitor less than 27 inches. Although the one I have is a very cheap 1440p monitor, I can say, I'd rather game at 1440p 60hz than 1080p 144hz. The extra resolution makes games look amazing!

I'm trying to get 3d render speeds too, 16x antialiasing needs all the performance it can get.

I've never actually seen anything above 1080p with my own eyes, i might get a 1440p from like asus, is ips any better?

Mining isn't really a priority, I do that charity thing, I forgot the name.

There's always the option of buying one off of ebay, but it lacks features and reliability. Or you can spend a bit more and go for something like an Asus PB278Q or Dell U2713HM if you want more features and better reliability. Plus, you can overclock some monitors to exceed 60hz.  I'm not a big fan of TN panels either and I'd say IPS is superior because of the better color reproduction and viewing angles. Either way, you'd be very happy.  Once you see/use a 1440p monitor, you can't go back.  I personally saw one on my last trip to microcenter and I can vouch for it.  It's so beautiful  .

You'll notice it on larger panels, like a 27 inch. That's why a lot of us don't recommend a 27 inch 1080p monitor, the pixels are just too large. Obviously with a TV it's different, because you are sitting back away from the screen.
