Rx 5700 or RTX 2060 super

10 minutes ago, Boomwebsearch said:

I have uploaded the page where there is a 19-21 percent better performance (effective/average) and showing that the 5700XT would be 13 percent faster than the RX 5700 when compared overclocked to overclocked. Sorry for the freehand marks, I don't have a touchscreen computer and the built-in annotation tool for screen captures is limited in Windows.

Userbenchmark has proven time and time again how unreliable they are with their campaign against AMD CPUs, it almost seems like Intel might be paying for some opinions from them.

8086k Winner BABY!!

If you don't need the ray-tracing support, get the RX 5700XT or even RX 590 if you are working with a limited budget, they offer much better value (price to performance) than current generation Nvidia RTX graphics cards.

Would recommend getting the 8GB of video memory version at least either way; links to good price to performance graphics cards:

didn't 5700XT has a major driver problem not too long ago? (roughly remember that it caused a wide range of issue from FPS drop to black screen)

not sure if the risk worth the discount, given AMD problamatic history with driver

Again it's pretty close, but the 2060 Super is faster on average. The comparison is kinda unfair for the most part, because the 2060 Super is in most countries more expensive than the 5700XT which makes it a lot more expensive than the 5700(currently $80 more expensive comparing the cheapest model on PCPP), but in this case they seem to cost the same for the OP so in this specific case it isn't that unfair. The 5700XT is naturally faster then both 5700 and 2060 Super, as it is right in the middle between the 2060 Super and 2070 Super.

from those sources i see rx 5700 leading by 1-5% depending on the game. there are only few games where 2060 super beat rx 5700.

On Techspot/HardwareUnboxed test the 5700 wins in 12 games, ties in 1 and loses the rest of the 41 games tested. Computerbase test shows 8 wins for each, with the 2060S getting more wins with higher difference(3%+), putting it ahead in the average. In the latest Techpowerup 2060S review the 5700 wins 4 out 20 games(comparing both stock). Anandtech results are kinda hard to calculate, due to all the variations, but for the most part they are pretty close. PCGH doesn't list individual results in the index, probably you can check the review, but if the average of 20 games puts the 2060S ahead, there is a good chance that the 2060 is faster in most of them or got the biggest wins, or maybe (probably, when considering other reviews) both.

They're practically identical in terms of performance. Depending on the game, either the 2060S will edge out the 5700, or the other way around.

I'd say go for the one that has the better feature set for you, or the one that's cheaper.

didn't 5700XT has a major driver problem not too long ago? (roughly remember that it caused a wide range of issue from FPS drop to black screen)

not sure if the risk worth the discount, given AMD problamatic history with driver

The new AMD Navi drivers don't have nearly as many issues as they used to and work great with modern software. Driver compatibility is dependent on a lot of factors including your specific hardware configuration and version of operating system, when working with legacy graphics cards on newer operating systems such as Windows 10, I can say that AMD keeps launching new/improved driver revisions until problems are solved before discontinuing or marking the card as EOL, Nvidia has graphics cards with older drivers containing issues and have marked them as EOL/discontinued without fixing the issues. Have worked with more AMD cards than Nvidia, and almost all Nvidia driver installs end up giving problems sooner or later for me.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

I appreciate guys your time and i would probably go with rtx 2060 super just because im used to nvidia gpu's.I never had an Amd gpu.Tnx alot!

Good :) Rtx 2060 super is not strong enough for proper ray tracing performance. But for the same amount of performance between rtx 2060 super and rx5700, definately nvidia.. Better drivers etc. Even if rx5700 is 5% faster, still id go for nvidia. A faster GPU is not worth it if it has driver issues. A working and reliable GPU is better.

This is a widely reported issue though, some of them are also quite severe and not easy to fix (require bios update etc.) Apparently it has been more or less fixed but I were the author I probably don't trust AMD for any of their future driver. When it comes to problem with AMD driver, the root cause is very fundamental (don't have large enough software team to deliver a reliable driver), for reason like this it is a significant risk to trust them to deliver future driver.

I actually looking to get 5700XT at some point as well but with this history in mind, honestly there's no way I'll risk going with AMD at the same price point to Nvidia - or even at 20 - 30 percent discount.
