hey guys i used to be a console player i decided to switch to pc and  build a 1000$ pc and i was planning to do it in june i have been saving money for months and i feel its the worst timing to build a pc new intel 10th gen is comming b550 motherboards ... and so on, i don't wanna spend money and in just few months new things will be realesed for same price and better performance.

do you guys recommend me to build in june or wait for holidays and save more money ?

note that i sold my ps4 and since the lunch of it i only played uncharted series, zero down , gta v , rdr2 , bo4, so i have a hundred games left to play

If it comes to saving more money, yes you should definitely do that. If you've waiting this long, then certainly you can wait till something like the 1st of July when everything is over and get a PC above 1000$.

"Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society" - Aristotle 384-322 BC

Well even if you do build in June, any list we give now wouldn’t be very good then, with the new launches this summer. I would wait for ryzen 4000, B550, and Nvidia’s Ampere gpus.

Well, altough market-wise we are probably going through one of the most competitive moment in the latest decade, honestly it is always going to be like that and it is always going to feel like it's "the worst moment to build a PC".

Time spent waiting is time spent not playing.

Honestly with $1000 you are not going to get the super high end equipment anyway, personally I would build around the Ryzen 3300X (considering you have to build from ground up and you probably want to do that on 570/550 for upgradeability, 3600 is already tough for that budget unless you compromise on GPU), on platform X570 or B550 (expected to be released mid-june) so you have a good system for gaming with a guaranteed upgrade path to AMD Zen 3 in case you want to get a more powerful CPU later on.

At least on paper Intel 10th gen looks more or less in pair with 3rd gen Ryzen - but you could wait a bit for that, I'd expect release around end of this month (motherboards and CPU already shipped to press, embargo for performance ending May 20th if I am not wrong and there we will get benchmarks and release dates and prices). Upgrade path yet a bit unknown.

Now say you waited to see 10th Gen and B550 and here we are it's mid-june, but hey new GPUs (there is nVidia keynote this thursday btw) looks already around the corner (we are probably talking Q4 '20 / Q1 '21, for AMD as well). With rumors that says huge performance increases (with 4K that could become the standard). Let's wait until the release. But wait, now we are already talking about Zen 4 on new socket and Intel 11th gen! And if we look further ahead we have new generations with new smaller architecture.. and DDR5 RAM... you see where I am going? So as I said it always feel the worst moment to build a PC..

Good luck with your decision and sorry for the long paper but I felt inspired and helped me to summarize where we are at the moment.

  • 2 weeks later...

hey guys in june iam about to switch to pc and its my first time to build one with a 3600 + 1660 super for only 1080p60fps pure gaming.

my question is it a good choice to build it at that moment ? iam scared to build it and just in septembre when new amd stuff comme's out i'll have to rebuy another cpu+gpu

or should i wait until September and build one iam very tight on budget i have been saving for months i don't wanna be despointed at the same time i want to play so bad current games (note i didn't play a lot of games on console )

budget is 1000$ in September i can save up to 1200$ is it worth it ?

in same boat time for a rebuild before some of the new q3 games come out..  I am holding till we see what Zen 3 comes out before ether getting the new  I5 K series that droped today or jumping to team red and get more precious USB ports . .    Rumor mill says soon considering all new lintel info just dropped hopefully won't be too long most likely late June when the b550 broads drop.      Also we should be seeing new NVIDIA 3000 before sep (in theory)  so i am holding off gpu update for that..

It would be worth waiting. I need a psu for a new build but there's no stock anywhere on power supplies. zen 3 being 7nm+ should have higher ipc and base clocks and nvidia 3000 gpus are coming out around that time too. So waiting will give you the newest hardware and hopefully a power supply

most important thing how the 6cores/12threads going to hold against upcoming AAA games like assassin and cyberpunk will it be enough or it will stutter ?

I would keep saving and wait for the new stuff to come out, e.i. Ryzen 4000 CPUs and Nvidia 3000 GPUs. By that time current gen stuff will be cheaper, so you can get better parts. Also, when new hardware comes out, you aren't forced to buy it. Current gen stuff will still be good in years to come.

Since the CPU market has gone towards multi-core CPUs, newer games will probably be more and more optimized to utilize it.

I definitely recommend doing your research on current gen hardware while waiting for the new hardware to cause the prices to drop. That way, you'll know what best parts to get for your price point, and you won't waste money on hardware that you can't fully utilize.

P.S. I would also recommend an AMD RX 5000 series GPU. They offer better price to performance than Nvidia.

You can buy it now, and if the new Ryzen proves to be a much better option, then you sell what cpu you have and get a new 4000 series one (get atleast 4xx motherboard now, so it will be forward compatible).

GPU, i would wait 1-2 months, Nvidia will release new stuff soon.

Except for better hardware being cheeper I wouldn't see a reason to wait.

I think most people on here would agree that most games aren't designed to use more than maybe for threads at a time with the exception of destiny and a few other titles that can use up to like 16

Intel 10gen is cheeper and better then 9th

3600 is a great CPU for 1080p gaming, hell even 1440p gaming as well.

hey guys iam going to build my first pc for pure 1080p60fps and i have been searching and i think iam in bad moment to do it

at first my build choice was a R5 3600 + rx5700xt/rtx2070 = 1200$ but then everybody is saying to wait for next gen to release big navi new 3000 nvidia cards ....et, so i said i will build a r5 3600 + 1660super = 950$ and save the rest money for

october when new gpu's are released and sell that 1660s and get something high end is this a wise decision ? also is the 6cores/12threads will be enough or should i think of 8cores ?
