gonna be building a PC with a MSI 2080 Super and a Phanteks P400A Digital Black.

better to horizontally mount or vertically ? (if i even can.)

also how? becasue most of the build guides ive seen have only shown how to horizontally mount.

stuff is cool. stuff that has fancy lighting is cooler. stuff that has fancy lighting and works is the coolest.

i game so i know a bit abt gaming tech, not much abt professional tech.

Not sure if you can mount it vertically in that case, but unless you are water cooling the card it is going to be better to mount it normally (horizontally). If you mount it vertically, the card will be very close to the glass and will be chocked for air. If you are really set on mounting it vertically in a case that doesn't  include support for vertical mounting, you can get a PCIe vertical mount bracket, but then you have to use a riser cable and won't be able to use the other  PCIe slots.

ah alright. isnt it usually less common for vertical mounts right?

Is what less common for vertical mount? It is less common for cases to support them and less common for people to use the PCIe adapters, not sure if that's what you meant.

It doesn't really make a difference to temps, what orientation it's in, case airflow does.

Yeah it isn't exactly rare in cases, but it isn't common as far as I know. As far as people actually doing it, I would guess most people either don't do it, or they try and realize their card thermal throttles when they do, so they put it back to normal.

ah alright. i actually thought it wouldve had better temps since the gpu fans would be right at the CPU cooler.
