Hi all,
Some context first, I built my PC around 2013, with:
  • Intel i7 4770k
  • Asus Z87 Pro Motherboard
  • GTX 770
  • 16GB of DDR3 RAM
  • Corsair 650W Gold PSU
Recently, I wanted to upgrade my GPU and bought an AMD RX 5700 XT, which, was faulty and after that RMA I received another faulty RX 5700 XT, this was probably because the ASUS TUF version of it has serious cooling issues, even though I have never seen it go THAT high, but, in short, with this GPU my whole PC crashed...

Meanwhile, after being able to get my money back, I bought an NVIDIA RTX 2060 SUPER because I was sick of the AMD problems. And now I'm getting crashes in most games (which at least I can recover from by restarting the display driver - Ctrl + Windows + Shift + B). The games that have crashed so far have been: Wolfenstein 2, Metro Last Light Redux, Apex Legends and Valorant (even though this last one only crashed once and recovered rather quickly without a display driver restart).

What I have done to try and fix the problem:
  1. DDU before installation of new card
  2. DDU after installation of new card
  3. Fixes found online about game-specific crashes
  4. Fresh Install of Windows
  5. Uninstall and reinstall of said games
I now have reached a point where I am not sure anymore if the problem is the GPU... HALP PLS

Temps are good, crashes have only happened in games so far, and I pretty sure it is well seated, but maybe I can try another slot?

maybe you could. But if it works the performance wont be as goo because it not in the first PCEI slot. Have you tried other graphical apps (Blender, F@H)?

I had F@H before the fresh install, but haven't installed it back, I'll try it first then!

if you've gone through three different GPUs from different manufacturers and models, maybe its not the GPUs

i5-14600KF // 120x38MM Cooler Master AIO // B760i // 64GB DDR5 6000 // PNY RTX 5070 // Cooler Master NCORE 100 Max // Cooler Master V SFX-850 Gold // UWQHD AOC Display

Does your 770 still work fine?

I have sold it, but it was working fine!

I'm starting to lean towards (since I just bought the GPU) returning the GPU and with the GPU money, getting a new MOBO, CPU and RAM and just building a new PC while holding for the RTX 3000 series launch.

Yeah, that seems like a good idea.

Bit of a shot in the dark but my 5700xt had a similar issue. Turns out it was my old power supply. The way I got around it was making sure I didn't use the pci-e cables that had 2x 8 pins on them. I used 2 separate cables with a single 8 pin on each, maybe give that a try?

Just to note tho my psu did completely fail a few months after not having any issues (caps blew RIP ax860) so maybe see if you can borrow 1 or even get 1 off Amazon cheap and send it back if its still the same. Amazon's returns are really simple.
