Hey guys,

Is it possible to plug a 3 pin fan into a pump header, or are there any downsides

Greetings

Nico

Usually the pump header can't be controlled, meaning the fan would run at 100% at all times. Check your manual for that.

If you need another fan header, get a simple splitter cable.

Usualy fan headers are very similar, but 2 differences i know of, one like @minibois said the 100% thing.

The other is that the pump connections can handle more Amps most of the time since a fan doesn't need much but a pump does.

So if the manual says you can control the fan from there do it.

(As for my motherboard the Gigabyte Auros ultra Gaming X470 it has pump headers also but they can be controlled in the bios just like any fan header they can just deliver more power.)

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Depends on motherboard. In most modern boards pump fan is just label and you can set it to DC control from BIOS. Check your manual first on what it says about those headers.
