Rode SMR Shockmount vs PSM1

Dipypang

Guys,

I'm currently deciding to buy a home studio kit but I read some reviews and some people say that SMR comes in the NT1 Kit is not good but ofcourse still got some good reviews.

So I'm deciding to get a NT1 solo and a PSM1.

Any experience guys? Please help.

Thanks.

The SMR is by most metrics one of the best stock shock mounts ever produced, if you use one you won't be disappointed.
More importantly is the question of NT1 vs NT1-A, the 1-A has a much lower noise floor iirc but it also has a very shrill high end. Many studios I've been in/around still have an NT1-A because of the noise floor, allows for very intimate recordings but is can make vocals hard to listen to.

In a similar (or lower) price range I'd recommend the 3U Audio CM1 models (116 USD last I checked), truly beautiful microphones that I would happily pay double the money for. It is a small company but rumor is the owner designed the capsules for ADK, Warm Audio and Rode (some of the best budget capsules on the market).

Either way, both options are far better than the 2020/2035 you were originally considering and I highly doubt you'll be disappointed with your choice.
