Light Video Editing Machine for my mom

Secil

My Mom is having to make short videos for work during the pandemic and the laptop she has is just not quite up to the task.

Nothing Fancy just 1080p editing mainly adding text and cutting between video and stock images. Also if you have suggestions on easy software since last I checked she was using Power point to add text to short video then importing them to something else for cutting. I thought about an older Mac so she could use IMovie but not sure I could convince her.

No need for peripherals.

The budget is around 600-1000$ CAD

Also would be great to be able to stream life video from a camera attached to it when things are back to normal.

Uhm really it depends what you want to do for it, but if it's purely video editing, I recommend:

R 5 1600AF

Some decent b450 motherboard (for upgradability/vrms/power delivery lol, maybe try the b450 tomahawk MAX, it's great overall and you can upgrade to 3rd gen ryzen, or 4th gen if they stick with AM4 down the road)

G. Skill Ripjaws 2x8 gb (16gb) 3600mhz cl 16 ram kit

a sata ssd/nvme drive at 512gb or 256gb

a hard drive at maybe 1 or 2tb

a 1650S/used 1060 (if you feel comfortable with used)

Phanteks p300a (or a cooler master masterbox, thats only if the form factor of the motherboard is MATX or mini itx or smaller)

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

Why this case, why mATX?

Get a Crucial P2 same price but faster

Besides this: nice!

decently ventilated? I doubt that.... do you have sources for that? But yea it looks nice!

MSI A Pro Max is only like 5$ more and well worth it for future upgradability (more PCIe etc)

It's also got a shit BIOS. I don't think his mom wants to troubleshoot the BIOS for several hours

I have build 5 pcs with that board. Everything works perfectly.

His mom WONT want to OC and fiddle around with the BIOS. For normal operation: Update to latest version and done

Considering the amount of issues we've had with MSI boards, I am very hesitant to recommend them

Thanks fro the quick replies!

No Gaming at all this will most likely end up at her work in a church running power point and maybe now streaming services to twitch or youtube. Right now it needs to do pretty simple video editing

Her work would be paying for it so if we could talk them into a slightly higher budget would it be better to go for a better CPU like Ryzen 3600 or a better GPU like a 1660. Or would you put it somewhere else.

If higher budget is available and its about video editing CPU first. So 3600x is a good idea!
