High GPU temps, overclocking shuts down PC

Hi, I'm having some issues with my PC. Specs are:

- Ryzen 5 1600X with DeepCool Gamaxx 300 cooler

- Asus GTX1070

- Thermaltake 550W PSU

- Segotep The Wind case with two 120mm fans

- Gigabyte Aorus B450M with updated BIOS

- 4xCorsair Vengeance LPX Black 3000Mhz (32GB total)

First, the GPU. I get around 80-83C while gaming even with the case open. I have replaced thermal paste, cleaned fans and no improvement. When I touch the heatpipes, they're really hot, so heat DOES get transfered to the heatsink. Fans also work as they should.

Next is the CPU. I overclocked it to 4GHz maximum and the PC completely shuts down under load. CPU temps can reach 100C. Lower clocks mean lower temps, and stock 3.6GHz runs fine.

Putting the two together, I believe that there's a case heat issue. The case itself is pretty small, and I have a fan sucking air from the front and one blowing it at the back. I have ordered more fans to see if I get some improvements.

I am however concerned about the GPU temperatures. Should I look for an aftermarked cooling solution?

Try ryzen master for CPU clocks, I've had really good luck with it so far. See what your voltsge runs at. I found my board default running up near 1.4 at times at stock speeds, I can lock 1.2 at stock just fine. It drops the temps a lot. Did you also clean and repaste the CPU cooler?

Are you OCing the GPU? I don't believe you have a case issue, if removing the side panel does nothing for temps. You're at the limits of your coolers heat dissapation at your ambient.

The case you have looks like it has pretty bad airflow. What are load temps at stock speeds?

Which model 1070?

Stock speeds are around 70C for the CPU. The GPU seems to be factory OC, I haven't overclocked it. Both the CPU and the GPU have thermal paste replaced and fans/heatsinks cleaned. I'll try the recommended apps.

EDIT: I played around with Ryzen Master and it seems to run cooler and more stable, but I'll do more tests. Reported temperatures didn't go over 65C with voltage locked at 1.375, so it was probably an overvoltage issue.

With MSI afterburner I discovered there was a default temperature curve and the fans didn't go full speed if the temperature wasn't well above 80C. I guess that's how this card was designed. I can mess around with the fan speeds, but I'll see how stable everything is under proper load.

That doesn't come with a great cooler either so temps seem normal.

I thought I'd give it a go and try a CPU cooler on the GPU. Bought the cheapest one that would fit and make some brackets to fix it on the graphics card. I also added two intake fans and now the maximum temperature under full load is 60C for the GPU and below 70C for the CPU also on full load and overcloked to 4GHz.

bad idea. what about cooling the vram's or other critical parts. This is not a good idea. try buying something like artic accelero.

your vram etc will overheat really quickly without cooling them.

Added small heatsinks to the VRAM, though the original heatsink didn't touch the VRAM chips and didn't have any pads on it (they were probably cooled by the forced air underneath the heatsink.

Difference is significant, up to 20C lower. Under full load for a long period of time it doesn't get to 70C, given that the new cooler is in a small form factor to fit the case.
