What I have discovered when i had the option to get my new phone 11 pro max was that my phone is now not a plaything its a tool. i use it for work, email and video; i no longer play games on it as i have my pc to do so.

I did have a samsung s4 which i bricked the wifi when i returned the OS back to the default Samsung one from Cyanogen which i had fun tinkering with and playing about with.

The main thing is that IOS just works its not the most interesting or different or revolutionary because i don't need it to be that way. Most phone OS's are now so similar in their operation and looks and the same goes for the devices. In the end i feel people are now more loyal to the brand than they are the OS.

is the mac book air was a windows device it would be hailed as the perfect product (almost). But the but the fact that its an MacOS which is still good i think turns a lot of people away.

Windows because most of everything can be done through GUI. From the most basic of task to the more advanced ones. (Though for some, command prompt is still faster to execute, especially if it's some kind of script that does a shit ton of stuff at the same time)

I still remember having to use the God damn terminal on Linux just to change the resolution a few years ago, because apparently my GPU wasn't supported and so I was stuck at 800x600 or some crap like that until I did some terminal magic that I found online. Then there's the whole issue of wanting to install softwares that are not pre-compiled to be executed by clicking on it or through the Synaptic Manager... I get it, it's open source... Let me download and run it without needing the Terminal damn it. Some of my complaints were fixed over the years and these days it's much better... But still, once a year or so I give it a try and every time, I'm back on Windows...

As for Mobile... I have to say Android. Just because there's slightly more freedom and it isn't a closed garden. Third party firmwares give new life to old devices, can install apps outside of the playstore by default as long as you change one setting... There's also more than just one store. Etc.

Linux is not good enough in the hardware support area and neither the doing stuff via GUI area yet, so I have to say Windows.

Android just because how the GUI is, how it works. I dont really customize much, so its not that. I like having back button that is OS level and not having it in the app sort of, also that its at the bottom of the screen always and not at the top for example. There is other reasons too.

It matters that you don't just give up.”

I'm one of those weird people. I like macOS and Android.

my reasons:

macOS: very stable, and support everything I need. the only thing I use Windows for is Overwatch. that's it.

Android: I don't like the limits iOS has. iOS is great, and I might switch back to it soon due to some stupid bugs in Android, like iOS is definitively more stable than Android, but just stupid things like managing where files are on the phone is so much easier since you have a proper files app. that's the only reason I prefer it, it's easier to copy things to the device over USB, and it's easier to manage storage from within the OS as well.

 --- Thread Lock ---

Sorry these kind of thread (OS vs OS / Brand A vs Brand B, etc.) aren't allowed on the forum, as it promotes trolling and flame-war.

Quote

No trolling or flame-bait.

  • This includes topics such as AMD vs NVIDIA, "company X sucks", and political or religious debates.

Also, it doesn't promote anything helpful to the community. In addition, it is really a popularity contest, nothing more. Linux will always win in a Linux based forum, MacOS/OSX will always win in Apple focus forum, and, as you can see, Windows will always win in a Windows focused forum.

Thank you for your understanding
