Considering buying oneplus 8/8 pro but too much ram?

The Torrent

I'm edging towards 8 rn as i cant see much advantages in pro apart from ram.

in which case does it really make a difference? what on mobile uses more than 2gb of ram i dont get where these stupid numbers are coming from.

the pro is bigger, has qhd screen, 120hz, an extra camera

the 30hz is just gonna waste battery for me, camera aint too important to me, that slight size increase might be worse for me and qhd as linus said at that size makes noo difference im blind anyway

The main reason to have more ram is primarily for multitasking. The more ram, the more apps you can have open in the background and switch between without the app having to relaunch. Most modern flavors of android alone take up 1.5GB of ram by themselves, with apps like spotify or any other music streaming app taking up a significant amount of background resources and straight up closing if you open too much after it.

Take a look at this video from MKBHD back from the Pixel 3 Era of 2018:

On my OnePlus 6, it claims to sit between 4.4 and 6.8GB (out of 8GB) on a regular basis, just for comparison's sake.

You forgot to mention bigger battery and IP68-rating. The non-pro doesn't have IP68-rating. (Whether that matters or not is up to one's needs and tastes)

7T Pro vs 8, Oneplus 8 is 100 quid cheaper, has 128GB less space, has IP68, a lower resolution 1080x 2400 pixels instead of 1440 x 3120

If you dont need the space, get the Oneplus 8

Intel 12400F | 2x8 3000Mhz Corsair LPX | ASRock H570M-ITX  | Noctua DH-N14 | Corsair MP50 480GB | Meshilicious | Corsair SF600Fedora

Thanks let me know if I said something useful. Cheers!

its seeming to me there that 7tpro is bit a lot better?

i mean i heard ip68 they didnt do just so they dont have to pay for licensing but thats not important to me anyway.

and lower resolution hmm... but its a smaller screen also isn't it iirc but less storage on a newer model...?? why is the market so cloudy lol

The non-pro 8 doesn't have IP68. It's the Pro that does.

According to GSMArena it does.

Yeah, it's wrong.

Cross referenced other sources, you are right. Only Pro has IP68.

I heard what they did with the 7tpro was that they didn’t get the ip68 just to save on licensing costs but it is still up to that standard - could this be the case for the 8?

No idea, but unless someone goes and checks, it's better to assume no.
