it could work but it's unlikely, i can't give you a better answer, since I wasn't able to find the pinout for DDR3 DIMM modules

Just got this and it came like this, could it still work?

Do you mean the bit of 'dirt' on the pins? Should still work, doesn't look too bad.

Otherwise you could try to clean it a bit.

Alcohol works best (because it dry really quickly), but water could work too (just let it fully dry).

Make a cloth/tissue damp and kinda scrub these pins.

EDIT: oh you mean the second from the left pin missing. Not sure.

i think OP means the one missing pin on the left

your best bet is to get a pinout for DDR3 and see what that pin does. if you're lucky it's just ground. if you're unlucky it's a signal pin and the ram won't work.

You'll have to get that gold finger back in place to assure correct operation or there is an excellent chance the stick won't work.

You can try it if you want but do expect it to either not work or act up.

it would certainly help, ddr3 has a certain amount of ground pins, and they are redundant

would it say GROUND PIN or something, and is pin 1 from the left or right of the notch?

it usually won't say it on the mobo or RAM itself, so you'll have to find a PDF or something with all the DDR3 pins and what they do.

i've been searching but it's proven hard to find.

I'd still look for it, you'll need it to do the fix.
A tiny spot of solder at the top to reconnect the finger to the circuitry and you'll have to use a really thin coat of glue/adhesive to the backside of the finger to make sure it's in place and should (hopefully) work.

With the spot in need of the solder point being so tiny I'd let someone with experience do that instead of trying it yourself.

It's beyond easy to fry a circuit trace.

From what I can tell the stick as is won't work.
You'll have to get it fixed.

Link to that datasheet you posted a screenshot of above: https://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data Sheets/Micron Technology Inc PDFs/MT16JTFxxx64AY.pdf

Seems like pin 2 = VSS = Ground. But I am not sure what pin it corresponds to on the 'back' part (see the right table). Looks like it corresponds either with DQ4 or another VSS pin (pin 122 or 239).

So you might be good?

Note I said "As far as I can tell".

You can try it and find out. No danger of hurting anything, either it's gonna work or it won't.

it won;t fry your motherboard, even if it was a power pin.

it'll just not recognise the RAM

it can only damage something if there is a short, and you physically cannot short something if there is just no contact at all.
