Team,

I have over 2000 movies in my home library that I have moved to MP4 and stored on a external hard drive. I use itunes/TV to stream to my 3 Apple TVs around my house, since the numerous updates it has been clunky and I am looking for an alternative. I do not want an online server, only to feed my home network. Apple had won me over with this, but I am coming to terms that Apple is no longer the smartest kid in the room. When I say clunky Im talking comp goes to sleep and takes the movie down, itunes/TV doesn't see my library after I've set it up multiple times, itll play a movie then an hour later not see my library.

Links to youtube is fine or just a name I can figure it out.

A sweet video from Linus would be the best.

Looking for a home media organizer that once set up, stays the same and just works. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Plex or Jellyfin I have just swich over from plex to Jellyfinx (which is an open source alternative) as it has lots of the premium features for free.

But is is worth you looking into both of these yourself and investigating which would be best for you.

Assuming you're sticking with your apple tv3's, forget plex.

Getting plex to work with atv3 is...vaguely possible...

I have a set up similar to yours, though I've recently switched out 1 ATV3 for a ATV4k.

I have an old pc that a friend gave me (his old media pc), that runs Windows 7. I have iTunes on it and have my music and movie libray on that. It's low powered and just sits on a shelf as a server. I connect to it thru the Computer channel on my ATV's...thru iTunes home sharring, and just run whatever..music, movies..

(I do have a plex server on it, as well, to let alexa access my itunes music library..it kind of works).
