it doesn't give you better FPS. and the top of the line boards for this platform are designed for a chip that pulls 2x the power and should be in a custom loop.

I would rather put ryzen 9 3900x or 3950x. With that said @Adrian007 did not specify he wants workstation capability and straight away said he would like the i9 9900k which is still the best single thread performer if its at 5.00Ghz so this means its the perfect choice for gaming.

I agree again with you and personally would go for ryz 9 3900x or  ryz 9 3950x.

if you are going to buy a new GPU and motherboard. I suggest you look at these two things for GPU comparison.

the extra 200-300$ doesn't make sense for 5 or 10 more FPS

then why sugest a 9900k if you think 3900x is better.

i9 9900k compared to 3900x is 80$ more, not 200$-300$. And yes the difference is 5-10 FPS maybe not even that. But never did I suggest the i9 9900k it was his personal preference of the CPU on which I did the build.

so @adrian007 when choosing the GPU you want. make sure it can physically fit inside your case.

the 3900x  not the 3800X is close at 1/2 the cost
