Too many connectors for my PSU? aorus Rtx 2070 super + aorus x570 motherboard + corsair mr650x

Hey guys, Im currently building a PC for the 1st time on my own and I'm in a bit of a pickle, so on my motherboard I got 2x 8 pin connector and same thing on my gpu but I got only 3x "6+2 PCIe & 4+4 CPU" slots. Is that right? should I connect only 1 of the motherboard connectors? 

 

PS. Extra newbie just in case question, those 3 connectors are the same right? just asking because it concerned me that the left one is separated from the others :P

PCI-E connectors are not the same as EPS connectors, so one wouldn't be compatible with the other.

You will be fine with just one 8-pin in the motherboard, unless you do extreme overclocking (like LN2).

I have the same PSU albeit with the X570 Aorus Elite. You only need one 8 pin.

Your power supply comes with three cables relevant for this questions:

- 2 cables that have two PCIE 6+2 pin connectors. These are for your videocard.

- 1 cable that has a 4+4 pin EPS connector. That is for your motherboard.

 

These are not the same on the component end, but they are the same on the power supply end:

Your motherboard has two EPS 4+4 pin connectors on it. Long story short; your power supply comes with 1 of these connectors and that is plenty.

Long story a bit less short: one 4+4 pin EPS connector already does 384W, which is power for your CPU, which is plenty for any CPU on that CPU platform.

 

I'm gonna check the manual for your motherboard, which of the two is required. Will post that answer in a minute.

They are the same on the power supply side, but the cable's other side is not always the same.

 

EDIT: you didn't mention what motherboard you exactly have (Aorus Pro, Elite, Master, etc.), so can't look up which one of the two EPS connector is the primary connector.

Just to clarify I know that for cpu motherboard I should use proper cable (left one) and for gpu the PCIe one (the one on the right). Still if I connect only 1x 8pin cpu to my mobo will this be enough? Im running a ryzen 3900x cpu

It is possible, though not recommended, to run a single daisy chained pcie power cable to your graphics card. That will give you enough ports to run the two 8-pin EPS cables. The RM650x does not typically ship with 2 EPS cables though that isn't unheard of.

The motherboard doesn't mention either EPS connector as default, so you should be fine using either.

3900x uses up to 150W, so one connector is totally fine.
