New CPU for my RTX 2080 Ti

Hey guys, so i just upgraded from a vega 56 to a rtx 2080 ti and found that my CPU was bottlnecking my FPS counter on games like COD MW. Now im not quite sure what CPU to get. What is the most reasonable CPU with Price and future usability in mind. I am currently using a Ryzen 5 2600X, so it would have to be an AM4 socket CPU. Should i go for a AMD Ryzen 9 3900X or is a AMD Ryzen 7 3800X enough or are both not optimal?

Any help is much appreciated.

3700x

you could get by with a 3600, but i feel if you're upgrading you may as well go wider while you're at it.

Thank you, any specific reasoning? Would the other ones be over kill?

3600/3600x/3700x/3800x/3900x/3950x are more or less about the same (perceivable) performance in gaming

3600 won't give you additional functionality (more multitasking ability, etc) over your existing 2600x, it's just faster.

3600x isn't really better than the 3600 outside of benchmarks, and is kind of a waste of money.

3700x gives you better performance, and wider resources over your 2600x

3800x isn't really better than the 3700x outside of benchmarks, and is kind of a waste of money.

3900x will perform around the same as the rest at gaming (slightly faster in some games), but gives you much more wider resources

3950x ditto above, but moreso.

Basically the 3600x and 3800x are not worth the price increase over their non-x counterparts, and the 3900x/3950x are worth it but only if you need the cores.

3700x is the sweet spot because increase in performance, and you get 33% wider resources.
