Interesting. I might check it out. Not too interested in the other two, or Empty Lesbian House Simulator. What a piece of trash that was.

I've heard some good things about Hob though.

Thanks, it's fixed now. There was so many games today, I overlooked it. Had the title right at least.

It wasn't that interesting. The entire time it entices you into the idea that something might actually happen, it even starts off with a setup of it being a haunted house, but by the end literally nothing happens. The entire "story" is that you come home from college on break or something and no one is there, so you go through looking for clues. Turns out your sister ran off with her lesbian girlfriend while your parents were away. Roll credits.

The only reason I can think of for it getting any praise or attention at all is that it involves lesbians. Make your sister run off with a boyfriend and the game would've been completely unnoticed.

*Edit It's funny the game came out before the Steam refund. Literally the entire game it tries to convince you and straight tells you there's a ghost or something interesting. It seems like a ploy to just keep people potentially interested until after the refund period. Then again the game isn't that long.

I also want to point out that I rather enjoy "walking simulators," that is, when they actually have something happen and have a story or interesting idea to tell. I enjoy walking around and looking at the environments in games, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, What Remains of Edith Finch, Death Stranding, Firewatch, The Stanley Parable, The Beginners Guide, Abzu, Journey, etc. All were enjoyable to me, but Gone Home is a fucking turd and the only reason it has any recognition is because of lesbian characters you don't even see.

According to Wikipedia, Polygon praised it's controller support? Like, what the fuck? That's the most basic shit. And then people going on about the "storytelling" consisting entirely of reading notes, because A. Video games never did that before apparently, and B. People just write down notes of what happened all the time. And then of course the "video games as art" argument.

Journey (and Dear Esther) which actually really launched/highlighted the "walking simulator" genre came out before this game. It does literally nothing, does nothing new in terms of anything, has no story, plot, or intriguing idea... it's literally just "your sister is a lesbian" and the game gets showered in awards and praise for being bold and artistic. Fuck this game. It actually angers me. It's a shit stain on games of the genre that are actually worth your time.

Oh yeah, and then they pooped out Tacoma, in which a colossal black lesbian astronaut exists, because astronauts aren't ridiculously in shape and work out every day. That game sucked ass too.

I finally managed to squeeze in some time between playing Dragon Quest 8 since the EGS games the past 2-3 weeks have been crap, and Yakuza Kiwami I was gifted by a fine gentleman on the forum, and picking up Divinity Original sin 2 on the GOG.com sale... And "fixing" a wobbly and clattering case fan...

I finally got around to playing A Short Hike, and boy does it live up to it's name. Took me a little less than an hour and a half. It was enjoyable enough, but I feel like either A. I missed out on the story or B. There really isn't any, but then I question and lament the fact that there's a final bit of dialogue that just comes straight out of nowhere. Seems like the story could've just been "I wanna do the thing!" and it would've been fine. The art style is sufficiently good, though I'm not exactly huge on the pixelization. Audio consists primarily of music which is also decent. A relaxing little game overall, which again kind of conflicts with the random bit of end dialogue.
