Cpu coolers recommendations for folding @ home

BoB2

Hi I am looking for a good cheap cpu cooler that is available in Australia. I have a i5 8500 and when folding at home my cpu temps are at 100 degrees, I am currently using the stock cooler.

I would prefer the cpu cooler to be black but I am open to ideas.

I have been looking at the cryorig M9I for $39 aud.

I just want to see what else is out there.

Thanks for any help.

What motherboard, case, and ram are you using? Have you tried undervolting?

Look through the motherboard settings and see if you can manually set the core voltage to 1.2v and test for temps from there. If it's stable, try incrementally lowering it to 1.175v and so on and test for stability. Undervolting can helps lower temps pretty dramatically with a new cooler.

If you're still not satisfied with the temps, the M9i is a perfectly suitable replacement. That being said, there are better coolers for the price including:

Gammaxx 400: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/hJFPxr/deepcool-cpu-cooler-gammaxx400
