Monitor too big?!

I have recently upgraded to a Radeon VII and then took my monitor game to new highs with the Samsung 49” 1440p display monitor.  I cannot seem to get the FPS even close to where I would like it and I’m not sure if SLI will help.  Is there a solution I am over looking?

Its not the size, its resolution that matters.

Size of a monitor is not of concern, resolution is.

Is this one of those wide monitor, like 5120*1440?

 

That is almost the amount of pixels 4K is, so compare your benchmarks with 4K benchmarks

What monitor were you using before? As stated by  @ChaosCGTV, the size doesn't matter, the resolution does. And this monitor is super-ultrawide, I think, so it has like 4k horizontal resolution.

 

@Edit: Your monitor is 5120x1440, which is 7.37 million pixels, while 4k  has 8.29 million pixels. So your performance will be much closer to a UHD monitor than a QHD monitor. It is seriously hard to drive that many pixels over 100fps, so you need the best of the best in terms of GPU, as @dizmo said, wait for the next top-tier Nvidia GPU.

Save up, get a 3080Ti. It's about your only option if you're looking for high refresh on that monitor.
Alternatively, try running it at 3440x1440 instead. Should be much easier on your card.

Radeon VII is a bad GPU to use, considering all the other options out there.  Specifically for that resolution... you're pushing almost 4K worth of pixels.  No way a Radeon VII can do that.
