hello there ! i have since a year a build with a r5 2600 and a gaming x trio 1080ti that was doing really well but lately it started behaving weird...

it used to stay pretty cool all the time and now i'm getting to 70c while having only 60% utilisation on FFXIV....  upgraded my CPU yesterday to a 3700x but i know that the problem was here even before ... and it gets to 85c on timespy!

HELP it's supposed to be a quiet and cool card !

70 is fine, 85 is a little too high. Adjust your fan curve for the higher ranged

Well what case/fan setup do you have?

pure base 500 , one intake 140mm pure wing 2 one exhaust same fan and a ml240l rgb from coolermaster that is on top with 2 masterfan rgb 120mm

Is the front intake situated where the gpu is? I might try moving that around if it's not to give the gpu some more airflow

Maybe try without the side panel on to see as well

Well if it's 10°C warmer in the room the computer is in then yes you can expect a bit more than 10°C warmer on the components.

What concerns me more is the 60% utilization,is the framerate capped?

You can always try adding more fans if you are concerned; I ran a 970 at 85°C for a long time (ambient in the 20s), but I realized it very late. It still runs fine today. I looked up safe temps once and it said can sustain 90 and shuts down at 105.

Nowadays I'm a bit more cautious and aware of the temps. My new case has great airflow and my new GPU will not exceed 70°C because of it.

You could also check a monitoring program to see if your GPU is thermal throttling and if it does I would definitely change something.

Now days if the GPU/CPU is too hot it will slow down to keep itself cool(usually around 90c), so there isn't really any reason to worry much about temperatures unless you are having issues due to it slowing down. But considering the change in temperature was from one day to another, might be worth checking if all fans are running properly and there isn't any fan that stopped working.

If everything is working properly and you still want to lower the temps change the fan curve to something more aggressive on Afterburner or similar software.
