I've just got a ton of NewZealand money together and decided to throw away my current setup.  My whole family use Macs, and I was going to buy a Mac but I'm considering building my first PC.  I'm super nervous but I think the components are reasonable quality.  Anyways heres what I can afford,  Should I get it for my first build?

Parts:

Hard Drive Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 64MB 6Gb/s SATA3

PSU: Seasonic Platinum Series Fanless 520W 80Plus Platinum Power Supply (SS-520FL2)

CPU: Intel Haswell Core i5 4670K 3.40GHz 6MB LGA1150

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 270X Toxic 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E3.0 (11217-02-40G)

Components are from computerlounge.co.nz   .   I've never owned a PC that can handle a game on more than medium.  I'm really thinking about this one.  What do you think?  I'm thinking of crapping my whole ghetto setup and just getting a pro setup.

Looks pretty good! And props to you for not getting insanely overkill components, like a 1000 watt power supply or something!

However, how much do you care about silence? That's a mighty expensive power supply for only offering 520w. I'm sure there's something at a better price that isn't fanless.

I would not buy a 27" 1080p monitor, that's about it for cons with the build.

They're really not that bad. Move it back a few inches and you won't be able to tell the difference. 184 pixels isn't that many.

Nice build. The only thing I can think worth pointing out is the keyboard has a short right Shift key and a vertical Enter.

Some don't notice it, some can easily adapt, some can't stand it. I'm in the latter category.

I had a Silverstone strider plus and a Noctua Ultra Silent cooler.  I thought it sounded like a vacuum cleaner...  So I'm quite sensitive to noise.

try paradigm pcs, they are reliable(got 90% of my pc from there) free delivery and i found they had some cheaper prices. also look on the techworld.co.nz website, they are pretty good too, i got my mobo from them with no issues, pcforce.co.nz is also good.

Maybe a bad or dirty fan? I used to have an older Strider 750 watt and it seemed fine! I do like some of the Corsair units, I believe some actually shut off the fan at idle, but I'm unsure which one. If you feel the need for fanless, go for it!

Are you limited to computerlounge or are you open to other nz shops? Also, what yous system being used for? Budget?

My budget is around $2,000 but I can splurge slightly.  But I can go to other NZ shops but I just know computer lounge.

I feel the need for only heatsinks and no fans.  Even my old macbook makes me cringe.

Unfortunately many owners of fanless psu complain about coil whine. You might want to consider a psu with smart fan controll. A unit like http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=18895 essentially runs fanless until and unless the fan is needed for cooling. Even then it ramps the fan speed based on actual need.

The Corsair Obsidan 550D and the Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 & 2 cases are quieter than the R4.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
