Im at school right now but this morning when I turned on my computer (I installed the h100i yesterday) it gave me the error "CPU Fan Error". I clicked f1 like it said and I saw that my CPU was running at 85-90* c but it was working perfectly yesterday.

When I installed my h100i and removed the stock cooler the thermal paste was completely removed so I know that, that isnt the issue

Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing, you just plugged the fan connector into the wrong fan header on the mobo...just swap it over to the "CPU FAN" header and that error should go away

Did you plug in the fan header in the right port. If you have high temps I would recommend reseatting your h100i with your own thermal paste. I had to do that with mine.

It is in the CPU Fan header and they are still spinning but even if the fans werent the problem why is my CPU running so hot?

Also I couldnt figure out where the Y cable plugged in so yeah...

yep

It should go into the block itself.

YEs but the ends wouldnt fit the ends of my noctuas if thats where they were supposed to go.

They should go into the y and that should go into the block. Though if theyre pwm they prob wont fit because the splitter was designed for non pwm fans i think. Dont noctuas come with a y?

oh yea they probably come with an adapter. Then i can plug that into the end of the noctuas and plug that into the h100i Y cable. What plugs into the CPU fan headers then? Never done this before so sorry if this is nooby :P

Hmmm. Well remembering my H80i i think it had a thin cable that went there and a sata power for the pump.

I have the sata cable connected for my pump but the only thing I need to figure out is how to plug the Y cable into the noctuas because thats how Corsair link recognizes my h100i. Am i correct? I dont have the manual with me, Im in the middle of class so im kinda guessing lol

I dont have an h100i but i have some experience with them and I cant seem to think why it would run so cool one day and so hot the next day but @Swegly you should try running something like RealTemp (or what the program is called im not sure) and see your temps on idle and load.

Corsair link should be a usb 2 header. Maybe plug the y into the cpu fan?

Sorry Im really confused with all of the cables. Do you mind telling me where I plug each one in? :) After I fix it i will use realtemp and see if it fixed anything.

The usb 2 goes from the block to a usb 2 header on the mobo. The fans can prob go into the cpu fan header.

I'm having trouble understanding how you have yours wired but I will tell you mine and it mite help you.

The H100i has the Sata plug for the main pump power but it also has a single PWM fan header with a single wire that plugs into your CPU fan header. Then it comes with a y-harness that plugs into the H100i blocks that goes to each fan. I don't use that because Corsair link has never worked right for me. So I plugged my fans into the Top Fan header on my Mobo, using the provide Noctia y-harness and use Asus fan xpert 2 to control fans.

I have the noctuas plugged directly into my CPU fan headers without the Y cable and my fans spin up just fine. The mini USB is also plugged in to the usb header and the pump. My motherboard had 2 CPU fan headers. One was CPU Optional and the other was a regular CPU HEader thats why i didnt use the Y splitter. I can control my fans through th Bios anyway instead of link like that. I dont understand why my temps are so high then

You said you installed it yesterday and if you got high temps and if you were running stock clocks. I would re-seat the block with our own thermal paste.

Did it work?

Well it has always been working. The fans spin but my temps are high as fuck.

Id really rather not :(

I had the same problem with my H100i when I first got it. I had high temps on stock clocks. When I pulled the block the pre-applied thermal paste was not evenly applied to the cpu. I cleaned all that off and put my own on and temps dropped a lot. Then I was able to overclock.

disregard Y cable, plug your fans into CPU_FAN and OPT_FAN if you have them on your board the Y cable for the block is just a passthrough for the power and control via software, CPU_FAN header is controlled directly via your motherboard, so it is probably better anyway
