Avast was collecting what it’s users are searching up on Google, Google Maps, LinkedIn, etc.

most important! They were collecting data on what type of porn you watch from websites like YouPorn and PornHub.

just great... and selling it to other companies like Microsoft, Google, Pepsi, etc.

In a sense, they were 'studying' our behaviour. In my study, Western people are super against child pornography, so I best not to put some anime girl (around age 9) dress in skimpy clothes holding my product as advertisement unless I want to get a back lash from the Western world. However, in many country like Japan, this type of advertisement could boost the sales.

Studying what people want or like can give you a competitive edge in advertisement and your product. It also gives you a clear view of your target 'audience'. That's why these information are worth.

And who says only Avast is having this issues? Other anti-virus do collect our browsing behaviour as well. Some may secretly sell our data as anonymous source (Big companies do, and like every seconds). So, yeah, no surprise about this news.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

Youtube does weird stuff too.

For near a month last year, youtube was recomending videos of men living alone with a cat in a van they had 'converted' into living space.

I don't remember if any were living down by the river.

Are you trying to tell me something youtube?

Wonder if they can get good internet...
