Used 970 vs 770?

Hi guys, looking at a very budget system - currently tied between £95 for a used GTX 970 or £50 for a GTX 770, any thoughts on which would be better? 1080p gaming, 60fps is probably the target, fine with medium settings. Most common game right now would be Rainbow Six Siege which was released in 2015.

 

It's being paired with a Ryzen 1200,

The GTX 970 is much better, of course. Depends on your budget.

He probably meant the RX 580. That would be great to find at 100 pounds.

The idea is to minimise the cost of the build, for a university student without a job. 

So whilst we could stretch to encompass a 970, the £400-£500 price point has to include the tower, monitor and any additional fans, if we got a 970, I'd likely have to give my friend a couple of 8GB 2400Mhz RAM sticks which wouldn't pair amazing with ryzen, and they'd have to get a HDD instead of an SSD. I'm trying to balance the 770 with SSD and 3000Mhz ram vs  970

I'll have a browse around ebay but it might be a few weeks / a month before we decide on a list so all the ones currently on ebay will have vanished

Look for a 1060 or 570/580/470/480. That should be within budget and smoke even the 970

I skipped the 770 because it did not have enough vram. So I went 570, 670, 680 4gb(bought when 770 came out) then 970.

 

People are still using the 970 today because of the vram.
