Disable windows automaticly changing audio output

So I am in a bit of a pickle, I have my PC in my room, it frequently is doing things as I sleep so it stays on. The PC is hooked up to my TV and my monitors.

Now as of about a month ago when I was done for the night I would turn my TV off and go to sleep and have no issues, but I have done a reformat now and when I turn the TV off windows its automaticly changing the audio output to my desktop speakers... needless to say this is an issue when I am asleep.

Apparently this has been a feature in windows forever but I have run this setup for as longer then windows 10 has been a thing and I cant for the life of me figure out how to make this behavour stop.

Have you set it to default? search for Sound Settings and then click on Sound Control Panel, and there you would set your default output device (do the same with Input), it's extremely frustrating that they hid the control panel behind so many clicks since I use it very ofen..

Yes the default is the TV, It is still changing itself.

You can disable the desktop speakers (from sound control panel) if you don't use them so it won't be able to switch, in my case when I unplug my Audio Interface and plug it back in it will automatically default to it again, and there's also an easier way to switch Output Devices by left clicking on the Speaker Icon and then clicking on the arrow.

I guess I could, but it was never a measure I had to do in the past to not have this issue.

I havent (aside from the stuff I flat out never use) cause I never had to do this in the past.. it is a solution but not an ideal one if im honest.

Your other option is to dig for drivers that are compatible with your setup but don't contain any "auto switch" features.... good luck with that.

This is maddening considering it was doing this before for....literally 5+ years... unless it was swaping to my wireless headphones which are off but I dunno how id force windows to defult to those when it loses the TV.
