Nintendo Switch question about SDXC card. ?

Hey everyone,

 

I just got my Nintendo Switch and Zelda + Pokemon games yesterday from Amazon and I bought a 128GB micro SDXC card to go along with it..

 

But what is that storage space for?

 

Ive played Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokemon Shield but my storage is still empty. ? 

 

Does anyone know what uses the storage on the SDXC card?

Its used for your downloads, when the internal storage is full

Ohh ok so the physical cards themselves are better for saving storage space whereas the downloaded purchased games take up storage space but are better in allowing portability since they save to the device itself and don’t require the physical card for games?

I believe the cards still use internal storage for game saves, updates, etc

If there's an SD card present, update data, downloaded games, screenshots and videos are saved to it.

 

The only thing that will use your internal storage is save data.
