thoughts on Nvlink?

DominicNikon

Hello, i plan on buying a RTX 2080 super for 1440p gaming and i will be custom cooling it. Should i start saving up for a 2nd one to do Nvlink for a higher 3dmark score and i would need a new psu or is one card good enough? i will be upgrading from 2 sli GTX 980s. For the budget part i am going to college next year so the money for the 2nd card could go to college stuff like books.

To what end? Better gaming performance? It's not a 1 for 1 improvement.

If benchmark scores are all that you care about, sure, go for it.

If you want FPS boost in games, don't bother going two cards, you don't get that much of a boost. I'd take one strong single card any day over two less powerful ones.

Kind of a waste just for increasing benchmark numbers.

Actual gaming performance won't increase in the same way.

If you actually want better useful performance then sell it and get a titan RTX or wait until next gen.

If you are looking for gaming performance you would be better off saving and getting a 2080 ti

One is enough. Two is better*

Its crosses you’re mind and you have the money. So why not. Also having two in the loop would look much better. That alone is enough reason for me to do it.

No idea. Didn’t put what you have. But I’m sure an 850 would do. But really depends on the cpu and how you’re gonna push the cards. Might as well go 1000.
