Can't Run 4 Sticks of Ram

Good Morning. Umm first time caller, long time listener, i guess would be appropriate. Been watching and following Linus for ages and they always praise their forum community so i figured i would give it a go.

I have the specs below, my issue is i cannot get 4 sticks of ram to work, in fact until yesterday when i picked up 4 sticks of TridentZ Neo F4-360016D-16GTZNC i wasn't even able to get XMP (Assuming the DOCP is enabling XMP for there is nowhere obvious that says enable/disable XMP) to function correctly. Currently i have tw sticks in Dimms B1 and 2 and they are at 3600 at 16 gigs and seem to be working fine. As soon as i put in 3 i get stability issues and sometimes the mobo will just loop and eventually bios error out. 4 Sticks the same but i can get into bios and the system wont crash or anything while in Bios. I even occasionally have got to a Windows login, i login and then bam restart again. Occasionaly it won't post at all and i get an error code on the LCD "Check CPU", i have reseated the CPU several times now. I think maybe i got super unlucky and the two MOBOs are shit on the lanes that talk from the CPU to the RAM, or maybe my processor?

I am lost, my knowledge is more than the average pc builder but when it comes to ram timings, and the infinity fabric changes and things that more involved i am lost. PLEASE HELP. Below are my specs

Lian Li O11DXL-X ROG Edition
ROG Crosshair VIII Formula (Second board, i thought it was the dimm slots and replaced it at Microcenter where i bought it)
Ryzen 9 3950X
FTW3 2080TI
32 Gigs Trident Z Royals (I Went through 2 seperate kits of the same, with the same results)

Now i have 32 Gigs of TridentZ Neo F4-360016D-16GTZNC
1T Samsung 970 M.2
500 gig Samsung M.2
Full custom loop all EK
Corsair Super Chill Rads
Corsair S120 Fans

If you guys need anymore let me know. Thanks so much in advanced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes presently i have 2 sticks at 3600.

If you swap these two working sticks for the other two does it still boot and everything is fine?

Yes, as long as it's only 2 everything is stable.

Okay I would set XMP then Change SOC to 1.2v and VTTDDR Voltage to 0.8v.

I don't have an XMP options, DODC i believe is what it's called, and from little info i can find that is enabling XMP. I will try those voltages.

XMP and DOCP is the same thing, ASUS just calls it different

No dice. Same code E8 check CPU with more than 2 sticks.

Curious code E8, stuck on S3 Resume Failed.

Going to over-volt the memory past 1.35v, see if it posts at 1.40v.

You can increase the SOC voltage (this is for memory controller and I/O), but shouldn't need quite 1.20v. Try 1.08v, should be enough.

Sounds like you might have a CPU issue, I actually had a bad IMC on my 2700x, would not run memory over 3000Mhz then slowly wouldn't run memory lower and lower until it just would'nt boot at all and I got BSOD even while trying to install windows. RMA the cpu with AMD and now im sitting pretty with 3000Mhz OC to 3400Mhz

why do you think you would need to raise DRAM voltage when OP is currently trying to run out of the box speed and timings? Increasing DRAM voltage won't help at all the only time you need to raise DRAM voltage is running memory at higher speed or tighter timings. DRAM voltage has nothing to do with how the memory communicates with the IMC.

OP most likely problem is signal integrety between IMC and Memroy try raising VTTDDR Voltage to 0.75v. Also in the memory timing page set Memory Gear Down Mode to Enabled.

Also do you know how to check to see if you have single or dual ranked memory? This is important and if running dual rank 3600Mhz is about the limit for it.

I should have been a lot more thorough with my posting I suppose.

  • Has 2 sticks (according to OP) in the wrong slots ""Currently i have tw sticks in Dimms B1 and 2""
  • Was trying XMP (which is what my post referred to)
  • Gear down is for Cas latency (His memory is CL16) He can leave it auto (enabled) )
  • IMC on Ryzen is picky enough, let alone trying to run 4 sticks.
  • Using 32GB of memory on already picky Ryzen memory controller
  • You can see if his memory is single or dual ranked if you look up the specs. F4-360016D-16GTZNC (chips on one side of the stick or both)
  • Must refer to Memory channels, dual or Single channel (2 sticks in the wrong slots, likely single channel A or B)

Something like that anyways. I don't have a great deal of time, but IMC for the extra Ram increase voltage, for DOCP, probably needs Memory and IMC training to successfully run it.

Thanks everyone. A bunch! I am going to dive

Everyone that contributed i really really thank you. It forced me to learn even more. In the end it ended up being the CPU itself, after all of the suggestions i could still only get 2 of the 4 to work. Miccrocenter swapped out the CPU free of charge and everything is up and running as it should be. Thanks again a ton everyone. Couple of pictures of the rig, just not buttoned up yet, waiting on my cablemod cables and pink fittings.

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Are you sure it is a CPU issue?

I just bought Ryzen 7 3700x & I am also getting the same bsod errors when I try 4 rams (2400 mhz) each.

Memory management,pfn list corrupt errors.

But when I use 2 rams, bsod vanished.

100% soon as i replaced the 3950X all four ran at 3600, right now im running 4k on them just fine.
