GPU dropping to 0% usage only while running certain games

JoshQM
Go to solution Solved by JoshQM,

Just thought id give an update, I got G.Skill TridentZ 16GB 3200mhz ram and it indeed fixed my stuttering issue. :D

I've tried to troubleshoot this issue for a few days now but to no avail. Nothing I have found online has helped me whatsoever and I finally decided to ask for help.

Games this is affecting:
- CS:GO

- TF2

- Destiny 2

- Halo MCC

Games that run perfectly:

- Hearts of Iron IV

- Escape From Tarkov

- Every VR game I own

- Total War: Warhammer 2

- Devil May Cry 5

(Picture of me simply sitting on CS:GO's main menu, Everytime the GPU usage drops to 0% the game freezes for a few seconds then comes back)

Things I've already tried/ checked:
- Windows power plan is set to High Performance

- GPU isn't thermal throttling

- GPU isn't overclocked

- Reinstalled Graphics drivers multiple times

- Reinstalled the games multiple times

This is a fresh windows installation.

PC Specs:

CPU:

- Ryzen 7 1700

MOBO:

Have you been here in the Nvidia control panel?

adaptive_performance.jpg

Changed power management mode to Maximum performance in the control panel, still dropping to 0% on CS:GO's main menu.

I'm not much wiser about this topic but I also tried to Google about this problem of yours and some forums have said it could be RAM issue?

This is what I found:

my gut instinct:

the top list of games are more CPU bound

the bottom list are less CPU bound

slower memory makes CPU bound games worse

try doing some overclocking on your RAM. You can probably get it to 2666mhz.

Attempting to overclock the RAM at all caused my PC to not even post, after multiple attempts and resetting CMOS about 4 times, I think i'm just going to fork up some cash and buy some better RAM and pray that it solves this issue.
