550$ for a State of the Art GTX 1080 Ti? that's a great deal and I'd totally go for it if Ray Tracing is unneeded.

Hi i currently have a budget of $800 and in need of a gpu. Currently my choice is a 2080 super card thats new (800$) or a 1080ti HOF(550$). Im only using an overclocked 4770k for now as i wait for the next ryzen release and game at 1440p on a 165hz monitor.  I dont have a gpu currently as the last one broke/out of warranty.

My problem is that im torn with the 2080 super and the 1080ti as they perform really close and i found a 1080ti hof for around 550$ on a used shop near me. I wonder if buying a new card is a good choice since i dont really game with RTX titles and RTX has a bit of a price premium. Any inputs appreciated

looking at vram its 8g vs 11g , looking at performance the 2080 is a bit better . if you get the 1080ti for less then a 5700xt then its a deal, if not just get a 5700xt . 2080 is overpriced

may i ask what HOF means?

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

I am not sure that is a great deal since you can get a brand new 2070 Super with roughly the same or better performance and RTX for the same price.  I seriously don't understand the craze for used GPUs, all you end up doing is getting an old, used GPU, without a warranty, that has the same cost to performance ratio as a brand new GPU with a warranty and usually better features and updated technology.  I get that the 1080 TI was a phenomenal GPU when it was the latest tech but to me the only way it would be a great deal is if the 1080TI was selling for significantly less, like $300-$350, to account for it being used 2-4 years and lacking any sort of warranty.
