Multi-GPU, mixed-GPU, question

Burnie1601

Hi all,

Quick query (possibly); I am about to upgrade my GPU.

I currently have an Asus GTX1060 3GB, plan is to upgrade to a Gigabyte RTX2070 Super Aorus.

Are there any benefits at all to keeping the old GPU in my machine as well as the new one or will it cause more problems than it's worth?

Rest of the main part of the rig is an AMD Ryzen7 2700 CPU with a Gigabyte X470 "Aorus Ultra Gaming" MoBo

Thanks in advance.

The only reasons to keep it in the system would be:

- Dedicated NVENC card (although the 2070 Super with the new encoder could handle that very well on its own)

- Compute (like 3D rendering, F@H, etc.)

But you need a PSU fit for this as well though.

More likely worth it to sell the 1060, or keep it for a secondary build.

No real reason unless you wonna drive 5+ monitors without a hub.

best to sell now while it has some worth left. Or keep it for a spare.
