x16 slot vs x4 slot

jamesmonroe0908

I have a question. My motherboard is a gigabyte ga ab350m-d3sh and it only has 3 pcie slots. One being a x16 then a x1 and a full x4 slot. if my graphics card is in the top x16 slot and my wifi adapter is in the bottom x4 slot will it affect my graphics card performance since its in a full size slot ? i cant put it in the small x1 slot because of the graphics card is in the way.thank you for any info. and my cpu is a ryzen 5 1600.

Your graphics card will have full 16x speed no matter what slot the other card is in. Your system has enough pcie lanes to handle what you're doing.

The first pci-e x16 slot gets 16 pci-e lanes or 8 pci-e lanes directly from CPU.  It's 8 lanes if you're using an APU, a cpu with integrated graphics.

The other slots are connected to the chipset, so they don't affect the performance of the pci-e x16 slot in any way.
